Meet the Candidate:

Candice Dixon, Esq.

Candice Dixon is a dedicated attorney, public servant, and candidate for Circuit Judge committed to fairness, integrity, and the rule of law. With a diverse professional background spanning mental health, criminal defense, social security disability, and family law, Candice brings both depth of experience and a practical understanding of the courtroom to her candidacy.

Before becoming an attorney, Candice worked at the Center for Behavioral Health, where she assisted individuals experiencing mental health challenges in obtaining stable employment and housing. This experience shaped her perspective on the intersection of the legal system and the real-life struggles many individuals face, and it instilled in her a lasting commitment to service and compassion.

Candice began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender, where she represented individuals facing criminal charges and gained extensive courtroom experience early in her career. In this role, she developed strong litigation skills and a deep appreciation for the constitutional rights afforded to every person in the justice system.

She later transitioned into private practice, focusing on Social Security Disability law, where she advocated for individuals seeking critical benefits. This work reinforced her commitment to helping vulnerable populations navigate complex legal processes during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Candice went on to open her own law firm, where she represented clients in family law and criminal defense matters. As a business owner and practicing attorney, she handled cases from start to finish, providing clients with personalized representation while managing the day-to-day responsibilities of running a firm. As part of her practice, she also advocated for individuals committed under the Baker Act, ensuring their rights were protected and their voices were heard during critical proceedings involving mental health and personal liberty.

Candice also served as a Civil Traffic Court Hearing Officer for the Tenth Judicial Circuit, where she presided over cases and applied the law in a fair and impartial manner. This experience further strengthened her judicial temperament and decision-making skills.

Most recently, Candice joined Leap Frog Divorce, where her practice focuses on family law. In this role, she works closely with individuals and families during highly sensitive and often emotional legal matters, always striving to resolve disputes efficiently while protecting her clients’ rights and interests.

Candice has also demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and service within the legal community. She is a founding member of the Polk Association for Women Lawyers, where she has served as President, Treasurer, Vice President, and Chapter Representative. Throughout her career, Candice has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to justice, ethical advocacy, and professional excellence. She understands that the role of a judge is not only to apply the law, but to do so with impartiality, respect, and a dedication to upholding the rights of all parties. Her approach is grounded in listening carefully, applying the law faithfully, and treating everyone who enters the courtroom with dignity.

Candice is running for Circuit Judge to serve her community with fairness, accountability, and independence. She believes the judiciary must inspire public confidence by remaining neutral, consistent, and committed to equal justice under the law.
